Biography

He was recently featured in magazines: Computer Music and Future Music. Ever since owning a Fisher Price recorder as a child, sonic manipulation has always been a great passion for James. He discovered recording techniques such as flanging at a very young age before knowing that the Beatles had inspired such techniques decades before. This love of aural crafting never left James, and he constantly strives for new ways to reshape sounds.

James played piano under tuition for a number of years before taking up the guitar, which he has now been playing for eleven years. Of late, keyboards and drums have taken up more of his time and interest, as they are particularly important in web sound design. He is adept in Production, Sound Design, Recording, Editing, Mixing and Mastering.

James currently uses a Dell Inspiron 8600 running the latest version of FL Studio. James works with Waves audio processing plugins for a polished and professional sound, along with various other plugins that produce more unique aural expressions. The Focusrite Saffire provides the main inputs and outputs whilst working, though James also uses other outboard equipment such as Line 6 and Behringer products. Most sounds are crafted using various software synths. Romplers and samples also feature in some of his work.

James' work can be inspired by anything from a squeaking door handle to the obscure strains of experimental music: "It takes on a life of its own to evolve into a whole orchestra when treated with imagination and knowledge of how to reach the desired sound”.
